LCMUA needs more participants in the Lead and Copper Sampling Program! Our 2021 campaign is about to begin and with the increase in residents moving in and out of the area we need to bulk up our sampling database.
LCMUA complies with the Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) monitoring requirements set forth by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Every year in accordance with the LCR, residential customers collect a sample of drinking water from an indoor tap and submit the sample back to LCMUA for analysis of lead and copper by a state certified laboratory. We bring the empty sample bottle to you and retrieve them the next day. We make it easy so you don't have to go out of your way to drive to our office. These results are used to determine compliance with the LCR and safety of the water supply.
Homes and businesses constructed prior to 1986 are more at risk of lead dissolving in the water as lead was commonly used in plumbing systems. Sampling helps LCMUA gauge the risk of people living in older homes consuming lead and copper. LCMUA is looking for more residential sites to participate in our Lead and Copper Sampling Program. The next sampling period will occur between June and September 2021. If you would like to participate in LCMUA's Lead and Copper Sampling Program, please call our office at 940-497-2999.
